Israeli forces withdraw from Beit Hanoun:damage seven million dollars

-Israeli forces have officially pulled out of Beit Hanoun after two days of occupying the northern Gaza Strip town. Over the course of two days, the Israeli military caused extensive material damage. In addition, forces killed eight of the town’s residents and injured some 52 others, several of which are in critical condition.
Israeli forces withdraw from Beit Hanoun
-In a press conference Tuesday morning held by the Municipality of Beit Hanoun, the Palestinian Minister of Refugees, Dr. Atef Odwan, reported that the volume of damage caused by the Israeli forces is likely to total over seven million dollars (USD).
-Dr. Odwan stated that the losses included the demolition of seven houses and damage to 19 others. He told PNN that the Israeli forces also caused substantial damage to the town’s main roads, schools, farms, and a nearby cemetery.
-The Minister concluded by promising the people of Beit Hanoun that the Ministry of Refugees will survey the extent of the damage and work to provide assistance to those rendered homeless.

Israel official states that offence could last for weeks

-Despite calls from the international community for a truce, and worldwide protests against Israeli aggression, Major Moshe Kaplinsky, Israel's deputy armed forces chief of staff, stated that the offense could last for a few weeks, and that an invasion could be possible. Israel has disregarded Lebanon’s call for a cease-fire. Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, stated that the bombardment would not end until Hezbollah gives up the two captured soldiers, and must stop any rocket attacks on Israel.

-Southern Hebron villages face emerging water crisis
-Meanwhile, settlements around Hebron and the rest of the West Bank enjoy a continuous flow of water for their houses, plants and swimming pools. In many cases, water supply, controlled by an Israeli company, is stopped in the West Bank for several days, or weeks, in order to provide the settlements with "the needed water" for their pools.

Olmert meets with w UN delegation

-The Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, met with a special United Nations delegation led by political advisors of the UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan. Olmert initially refused to meet with the delegation; they met first with his top aide, Yoam Turbovicz, and then Olmert joined them in the middle of the meeting.
-Israeli sources reported that Olmert told the diplomats that Israel will not end its military offensive until the captures Israeli soldiers are released, and “calm is restored in the north”.

Israel may have to consider prisoners swap, Dichter says

-Israeli Public Security Minister, Avi Dichter, said on Tuesday that Israel may have to consider prisoners swap deal, and negotiate with Hezbollah over the issue in order to end the current crisis.
-Dichter is the former head of the Shin bet Israeli security service, it was not clear if his statements came on behalf of the government or if he was giving his person opinion.
